Credits, not brands or prompts, are the billing unit, and Rankscale's own site does state the rate: typically about 0.25 credits per engine per prompt. That reconciles with Rankscale's own stated Pro-tier capacity of up to 4,800 engine-answers a month (1,200 credits divided by 0.25), which works out to roughly $0.021 per engine-answer at that tier, about $0.0175 at Growth, and about $0.016 at Enterprise. The one figure not independently confirmed here is Essentials' credit allocation; Rankscale's own comparison table didn't render a usable number for it when this was checked.

How Many AI Engines Does Rankscale Track Compared to GetIntel?

Rankscale says 17+ engines and names 10 of them. Its homepage carried "17+ AI engines" five times when read on 23 September 2026, while its pricing page lists 10 by name plus "10 more" in the credit calculator, which is where this article's earlier figure of roughly 20 came from. Both readings are reported here because the vendor's own headline number and its own calculator do not quite agree, and 10 is the only count you can check. GetIntel tracks up to 5, depending on tier: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, plus Claude on its top tier, where Claude runs weekly rather than daily.

The 10 Rankscale names directly: OpenAI ChatGPT, Perplexity AI, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, DeepSeek AI, Mistral AI, Anthropic Claude, xAI Grok, and Microsoft Copilot. That's real breadth beyond what GetIntel or most competitors in this category track, DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok and Copilot don't appear in GetIntel's tracked set at all. GetIntel's 5 engines aren't all included at every tier either: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews are on the $29 and $79 tiers, and the 5th, Claude, is Growth-only at $149.

Whether that breadth matters depends on where a brand's actual buyers search. For a B2B SaaS company whose buyers are on ChatGPT and Google, five well-covered engines with a fix-drafting workflow attached may matter more than 17 or more engines tracked at a diagnostic level. For a company selling into a market where DeepSeek or a regional assistant carries real buyer traffic, Rankscale's coverage is the more relevant fit.

GetIntel measures the same category of gap (citation rate, competitor share, sentiment) and then drafts the actual fix, an entity page, a counter-article, an outreach email, ready to review and ship through your own coding agent. The 200+ technical factors Rankscale's audit checks are the kind of findings GetIntel turns directly into a draftable change rather than a checklist item for someone else to act on.

What can an agent actually do with each tool?

GetIntel and Rankscale both ship an MCP server, and Rankscale's is explicit about its limits in a way worth quoting. Read from rankscale.ai/mcp on 23 September 2026, Rankscale MCP is in beta, connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and OpenAI Codex with no API keys to manage, and is described by Rankscale as read-only by design: the assistant "can never change your brands, search terms, or settings". It answers questions like how a brand is trending, which competitors gained visibility, and what the top citation sources are.

GetIntel's MCP is on every paid plan and is not read-only. It returns the ranked task and the drafted artifact, llms.txt entries, Schema.org and Wikidata markup, counter-article briefs and outreach emails, as a reviewable diff through Claude Code or Cursor, with approval required before anything publishes.

That is the clearest statement of the difference between these two products, and it is Rankscale's own framing rather than ours. Both let an assistant read the data. One of them stops there on purpose. Whether read-only is a limitation or a feature depends on whether you want an agent touching your repository at all.

Rankscale's Essentials tier undercuts GetIntel's Monitor at "from $20," but its credit allocation wasn't independently confirmed here.

The two models suit different usage patterns rather than one being straightforwardly cheaper. GetIntel's flat tiers make the most sense when the same fixed prompt set gets checked daily, since the price doesn't move with usage. Rankscale's metered credits fit usage that varies month to month, at the cost of a less predictable bill.

Rankscale if broad engine coverage, including engines GetIntel doesn't track, is the priority and a credit-based budget works for your team. GetIntel if you want a flat, published price, a narrower but deeply covered set of the engines most B2B buyers actually use, and a workflow that ends in a drafted fix rather than an audit report.

Neither recommendation here is about which product is better outright. They're built for different priorities, breadth of engine coverage versus a smaller set of engines paired with an execution layer, and the right choice depends on which of those two things your team actually needs first.
