How much does AthenaHQ cost compared with GetIntel?

AthenaHQ has two published price points and a gap between them. The free Essential tier comes with $25 of credit, 300 credits, and covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot. Starter is $295 a month for 3,600 credits, and Enterprise is custom. Annual billing is described as 17% off, but the annual price itself is not shown.

GetIntel fills that gap with three plans: Monitor at $29 for 25 buyer questions, Pro at $79 for 60 and Growth at $149 for 120. Even the top plan costs about half of Athena Starter.

The harder question is what 3,600 credits buys. Credits are spent per prompt per model, so the same allowance covers more prompts on fewer models or fewer prompts on all 11. A team that wants to budget against a fixed number of tracked questions will find GetIntel's plans easier to plan around; a team that wants to spread effort across many models may prefer Athena's flexibility.

Does AthenaHQ cover more AI models than GetIntel?

AthenaHQ covers more models than almost anyone in the category. Its free tier includes five (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot), and Starter opens 11 by adding Claude, Google AI Mode, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral.

GetIntel checks four engines daily on every plan (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and Claude weekly on Growth. It does not track Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, Meta AI or Google AI Mode.

For a brand whose buyers are spread across assistants, or in markets where DeepSeek or Mistral matter, Athena's list is the reason to choose it. For buyers who mostly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google, the extra models add cost more than insight.

Where does the action layer start on each?

AthenaHQ and GetIntel both act on the data, which sets them apart from pure trackers. From Starter, AthenaHQ includes on-page and off-page actions and a content optimization agent inside the plan.

GetIntel's Pro plan, at $79, turns each gap into a ranked task: a page to write or refresh, a roundup or review site that names competitors and skips you, or a Reddit thread worth answering, with the copy drafted where GetIntel can write it. A coding agent such as Claude Code or Cursor can work through the list over MCP in your own site while you review each change. Monitor, at $29, is tracking only.

The practical difference is where the action layer starts: $79 on GetIntel, $295 on Athena.

Which tools do AI assistants recommend instead of AthenaHQ?

We asked ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini five questions a buyer types when leaving AthenaHQ, such as "What are the best alternatives to AthenaHQ for tracking AI search visibility?" and "Is there a cheaper alternative to AthenaHQ for AI visibility tracking?", once each on 26 September 2026: 15 answers in all.

Counts are answers naming each tool, from 15 answers measured 26 September 2026 (5 questions, one run each on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini with web search). AthenaHQ itself is excluded.

Otterly.AI and Peec AI led again, in 12 and 11 of the 15 answers, but the first recommendation was scattered: eight different tools were named first, and the three engines disagreed on every one of the five questions. One Gemini answer misread the question and recommended general business tools rather than AI visibility trackers, and one ChatGPT answer named no tool at all, which is its own finding: a brand name like Athena is easy for an assistant to confuse. For a buyer, that means the AthenaHQ alternative shortlist depends heavily on which assistant they happen to ask.
