Get listed where AI looks
How to find the lists, articles and review sites AI cites in your category using GetIntel, get your brand included, and use directories for the mentions and trust that help AI name you.
For the general approach, see 234 SaaS Directories in 2026: How Rarely ChatGPT and Gemini Cite Them.
When AI names your competitors, it is usually repeating the pages it cites: “best of” articles, comparison posts, Reddit threads and vendor sites (see which sources AI engines actually cite). Getting onto those pages is one of the most reliable ways to start being named.
Directories play a different part. ChatGPT and Gemini rarely cite them as sources: across 9,978 answers in 126 software categories, only five review directories ever ranked among a category’s eight most-cited sources (the data is in our list of 234 SaaS directories). But directories are where reviews, brand mentions and consistent product facts build up, and those help AI name you even when the directory is not the link. List for mentions and trust, not for citations.
- Find the sources AI actually cites in your category, usually articles, lists and threads.
- Check which ones list your rivals but not you.
- Get included, starting with the most-cited.
- Complete your key directory and review profiles for mentions and trust, and keep your facts consistent everywhere.
Why it works
Section titled “Why it works”This is the fast track. Publishing your own page means waiting for engines to find and trust it. A mention on a page they already cite can change answers as soon as they read it again, and a brand name helps even without a link.
1. Find the sources
Section titled “1. Find the sources”Open Sources and filter the type to Editorial (publications and ranked lists) and Reference (review sites, directories and marketplaces such as G2, Capterra, Product Hunt and app stores). Sort by Cited in. Expect editorial sources to lead: in most categories the review sites sit well down the list, if they appear at all.
2. Check where you are missing
Section titled “2. Check where you are missing”For each high-ranking source, check whether it lists you. Your Off-Page tasks already flag the lists and listings that cite rivals but not you.
3. Get included
Section titled “3. Get included”| Source type | What usually works |
|---|---|
| Review sites (G2, Capterra, Trustpilot) | Claim your profile, complete it fully, and ask happy customers for reviews. |
| Marketplaces and app stores | List your integration or app, with a clear description of what it does. |
| Directories (Product Hunt, AlternativeTo) | Create or complete the listing, including alternatives you compete with. Treat it as a mention and a backlink, not as a page AI will cite. |
| Ranked lists and articles | Contact the author with a short, specific reason your product belongs, and offer accurate details. |
4. Keep listings consistent
Section titled “4. Keep listings consistent”Use the same product name, category and one-line description everywhere. Consistent facts help AI describe you accurately, which also lifts your brand perception knowledge score.
5. Measure
Section titled “5. Measure”Check Sources after a few weeks to a month: are the sources you worked on starting to cite you? Then check the topics they serve.
